Today has been a quiet day. I got out of the house and spend time with my family. When I came home, I did some cleaning, before the next cold blast arrives next week.

This afternoon, I discovered that my cat didn’t like my new winter hat. I sat in a chair in the kitchen as my kitty jumped up on the counter behind me. He sniffed my hat; I leaned closer to him. He licked and pawed it. My cat grabbed it with his teeth, and after several attempts he pulled the hat off! My cat sat there with my hat in his mouth like he saved me from an evil dragon.

I laughed, as my quiet day revealed my cat doesn’t like my new winter hat.

It has been cold here with a brief warm-up, before another major outbreak of bitter cold arrives. Tomorrow, I will do errands.

Next week, I’m planning on writing, for my goal is to write half of my short story. I already have 1,000 words done.

This weekend, I want to finish reading The Lost Starship, and to work on my review of The Queen’s Poisoner.

Perhaps, I may get a head start on some spring cleaning too. Spring will be here soon. That means more work outside.

Those are my goals for next week and trying to stay warm too.

A Chance Encounter

There’s a huge arctic blast coming… it will be bitter cold about two weeks or longer. Uncertain, but that’s the outlook in the long-range forecast. Winter has arrived to the Great Lakes.

While it still warm, I have been preparing for these frigid temperatures will start this weekend. I headed to the grocery store to get what I needed and my medicine.

I ran into my high school teacher who taught Home Economics like cooking and sewing classes. It had been years since we last spoke.

A funny thing a few days ago I thought about her and wondered how she was doing. Then yesterday, I saw her at the store.

The brief visit brought back memories of high school. She taught me various lessons about life. After the chance encounter, I realized made impression with her after all these years.

Looking back, I’m glad I am no longer in high school. School life wasn’t easy, which I’ve discussed in earlier blog posts. It was a nice visit and catching up with someone from my past. I hope to see her again.
