What are your daily habits?

Part of my morning routine is I will take my medication that I need. Once that is done, I will read my Bible and pray. Then I take the rest of my medication and have my breakfast.

After that, I will do my chores and then start working on writing projects.

That is my morning routine.

One thing that gets on my nerves about being disabled. People try to fix my problems when I have explained why I can’t.

What do I mean “fixing my problems”?

When I have clearly stated why I can’t do something because of financial or health issues, then I receive unwanted advice on how to address the problem.

I understand that my life and my struggles are so different from able body people. Dealing with health and financial issues and fighting against a disease (rheumatoid arthritis) that wants to cripple me.

One reason why some people do this is because it is a coping mechanism. My life and their lives are radically different. Perhaps, they are comparing their lives to mine. There could be a lot of reasons why people are trying to fix my problems.

That I am a reminder that health is fragile, and that terrifies a lot of people.

I just want people to ask me if I need help, to respect my boundaries, and to ask questions. Also, realize that I am human with desires and needs, have a different perspective, and my life as meaning and value.

Summertime is my favorite season. It is the season when my mobility improves greatly.

What is your favorite season of year? Why?

Summertime is my favorite season. It is the season when my mobility improves greatly. Having rheumatoid arthritis the weather does impact my joints; in the colder months I have more stiffness. In the summertime, I have decreased soreness and stiffness, and less fatigue.

I enjoy the sunshine and the heat. I love being outside taking care of flowers and growing vegetables. My family is growing 3 tomato plants and we added 2 bell peppers plants this year. Having plants to take care of gets me out of the house where I can reconnect with nature.

What fears have you overcome and how?

That’s a very good question. My answer is battling the fear of perfection because we live in a society where everything has to be perfect according to the culture. Here are some examples: the perfect home, the perfect relationship, the perfect family, the perfect pet, and the perfect career.

I believe the fear comes from realizing that you cannot meet that expectation of having the perfect life. Homes will be messy, relationships require work, careers have up and downs, and pets grow old and start having health issues.

Once I realized that perfection is a lie created to sell products or pushing a narrative about issues. I started seeing my life in a different perspective and realized I don’t have to be perfect. I just need to do things to the best of my ability.

Where I have been?

I been dealing with flare-ups, it is time for me to change my medications.

My chores are increasing since the warmer weather has arrived. I’m still recovering from surgery, and my body reminds me I’m still healing.

I’m also working on several writing projects that have been taking up my time, and I have been working on my music again. It is nice to sit in my chair for a longer period of time.
